What are independent Artist submissions?

At Pandora, we’re driven to support independent artists and help them engage with their fans. The Independent Artist Submissions tool exists to provide self-releasing, independent artists a path to make their music and comedy available to Pandora’s listeners.

Submissions made through this tool can be reviewed by Pandora’s curation team for analysis and – once approved – will be available for streaming on Pandora. These releases can also be considered for inclusion in Pandora’s official programs.

All submissions must first be distributed to Pandora via a digital aggregator (e.g. Tunecore, Distrokid, CD Baby etc.) so that they are delivered with the necessary licenses and information.

USING Independent artist submissions

To start a new submission, simply log into your AMP account (or sign up for AMP if you don’t have one yet).

To sign-up for an AMP account:

1. Create a Pandora listener account.

2. Log into AMP using the same credentials as your Pandora listener account.

Once you have logged into your AMP account, you can access Independent Artist Submissions by navigating to https://amp.pandora.com/submit or by selecting “Submissions” from the dropdown menu in the upper righthand corner of your AMP profile.

Note: Independent Artist Submissions is available to all AMP users - you do not need to claim your artist profile or have a verified AMP artist account in order to use the tool.

Preparing Your release

All submissions must first be distributed to Pandora via a digital aggregator (e.g. Tunecore, Distrokid, CD Baby etc.) so that they are delivered with the necessary licenses and information.

Prior to submitting your release through Independent Artist Submissions, please confirm the following with your distributor:

1. Pandora was selected when the release was distributed.

2. U.S. streaming rights were granted to Pandora.

3. The release is not a pre-release (i.e. submission has already been released).

The steps above must be completed to create a submission.

Note: You will only be able to submit one release (album, EP, or single) at a time through the tool. To send in multiple releases, you must make a separate submission for each release.

Completing the three-step process

ENTER YOUR NAME

Please enter your first and last name in the fields provided.

FIND YOUR RELEASE

To locate the release you wish to submit, you can either:

1. Search by UPC (preferred method)

   • Enter the UPC associated with the specific release

   • Click “Search by UPC”

     • This will bring you to a search results page

   • Click on the release to select and confirm the full tracklisting

   • If you do not see the release you are looking for:

     • Check that the UPC is correct

     • Ensure that your selection has already been released, as pre-release searches are not supported

     • Confirm that your chosen aggregator is one of our approved partners here and that they’re providing Pandora the correct rights to stream in the U.S.

   • Click “Add Release” in the upper righthand corner

2. Provide additional information

   • If you are unable to supply a UPC code, you can also provide the following required information to search for your release:

     • Artist Name

     • Release Title

     • Number of Tracks

   • Click “Search by Release Details”

     • This will bring you to a search results page

   • Click on the release to select and confirm the full tracklisting

   • If you do not see the release you are looking to submit:

     • Check that the release info is correct

     • Ensure that your selection has already been released, as pre-release searches are not supported

     • Confirm that your chosen aggregator is one of our approved partners here and that they’re providing Pandora the correct rights to stream in the U.S.

   • Click “Add Release” in the upper righthand corner

Once you have selected your release, you have the option to include additional details to help inform our team of curators who analyze your tracks. You can:

• Choose the genre that best suits your release

• Select your favorite track from the release

• Enter a description to tell us what we should know about the music (max. 4000 characters)

SUBMIT

1. Click on the checkbox to indicate that you have read, understood, and agreed to the Pandora Submission Terms of Service.

2. Click “Submit” to submit your release.

   • You will receive a confirmation message and email to let you know that your release has successfully been submitted for consideration.

Checking the Status of Your Submissions

To check on the status of your submission, navigate to the Submissions page or select “Submissions” from the dropdown menu in the upper righthand corner of your AMP profile.

Here you will be able to view:

• Release details including:

  • Artist name

  • Release title

  • Date the release was submitted

  • Number of tracks

• The status of your submission:

  • In Review

    • Your submission is complete, and you’re officially in the queue for consideration. You will receive a notification if your submission is approved.

  • Live

    • Your release is live and available on Pandora

      • Note: If your live release is eligible and you have access to the artist’s AMP profile, you’ll see a blue badge link which will allow you to talk to your fans about the release with an Artist Audio Message

  • Rejected

    • Your release was not approved to play on Pandora
